The University of Cape Coast, UCC, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Finance Management (IFM), Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to boost the interests of the two institutions.

The partnership agreement is expected to cover the exchange of faculty members of both universities, exchange of students on the baccalaureate and/or graduate level, as well as joint research activities.

The rest are participation in seminars and academic meetings, exchange of academic materials, special short-term academic programmes, and academic and staff development projects.

The MoU was signed by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, and IFM Rector, Prof. Josephat Daniel Lotto.

The leadership of the two institutions pledged their commitment to ensure that the agreement stood the test of time, as well as yielded the needed results.

Representing UCC were the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong; the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Denis Aheto, and the Registrar, Mr. Gideon Enoch Abbeyquaye.

The IFM was represented by the Rector, Prof. Josephat Daniel Lotto, and a Senior Lecturer and Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Information Systems and Mathematics, Dr. Faraja Teddy.

Addressing the meeting, Prof. Boampong lauded the agreement and said the partnership with IFM was a great opportunity for the two universities to work together to become world-class institutions for the training of well-rounded students.

He was optimistic that the collaboration would open doors for students and staff of both institutions.

In his brief remarks, Prof. Josephat Daniel Lotto said the signing of the agreement was the final phase of a long discussion the two institutions have had on collaborating and sharing ideas to help enhance their operational efficiencies.

He asserted that the collaboration was designed to advance the exchange of research, joint conferences, exchange of student programmes, and other relevant activities that would help both institutions flourish.
