The University of Cape Coast, UCC, has held a matriculation ceremony to officially admit 1,924 students to pursue various undergraduate and post-graduate programmes via the Sandwich  mode.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong,  called on the matriculants to ensure a high sense of responsibility and discipline.

“We expect all fresh students to embody the core values of the University - academic excellence, empowerment, equality, ethical behaviour and environmental consciousness – in your academic pursuit,” he said.

While congratulating the new students, the Vice-Chancellor added that the UCC was committed to providing an environment that nurtures the growth and support the dreams of students.

One thousand, three hundred and twenty-eight (1,328) of the newly enrolled students are pursuing post-graduate programmes, with the remaining 596 doing undergraduate courses.

Prof. Boampong entreated the students to tolerate one another and live peacefully among themselves.

He enjoined them to read the students' handbook, academic programmes, policies and regulations, as well as the graduate studies brochure, to be abreast of the contents of the aforementioned books.

Prof. Boampong appealed to the students to observe road traffic regulations on campus and asked them to be security conscious in the discharge of their academic responsibilities, while entreating them to take their studies seriously.

He reiterated zero tolerance for anti-social behaviours like occultism, examination malpractice, hooliganism and other vices.

The Director of Human Resource, Mr. Isaac Adom-Konadu, who represented the Registrar, administered the matriculation oath to the students.

Matriculation ceremonies are statutory processes that confer membership of the University on fresh students after they have fulfilled the academic requirements for admission by taking the matriculation oath.
