UCC Hospital Adjudged the Best Health Facility in Central Region for 2025

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) Hospital has been adjudged the Best Hospital in the Central Region for 2025 by the Central Regional Health Directorate.

This is the second consecutive year UCC Hospital has earned the prestigious regional accolade.

In addition to the top regional honour, UCC Hospital received a special award from the Cape Coast Metropolitan Health Directorate in recognition of its professionalism and excellence in service delivery.

The awards were presented during the Central Regional Peer  Review Awards for 2025.

Consequently, the Directorate led by the Director, Dr. James Kojo Prah called on the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Denis W. Aheto to present the awards.

Presenting the awards, Dr. James Kojo Prah, said the recognition was a reflection of the hard work and commitment of staff, as well as the systems that had been put in place to ensure quality care at the hospital.

 “Over the years, the hospital has distinguished itself in the annual performance reviews, and we are determined to continue improving our services to meet the needs of both the University community and the wider public,” he noted.

Dr. Prah indicated that the achievement aligns with the University’s growing reputation as a leading institution in Ghana and beyond.

Receiving the awards on behalf of the University, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Denis Worlanyo Aheto, praised UCC Hospital for its outstanding performance despite operational challenges.

“This achievement is highly commendable, especially considering the increasing number of clients the facility continues to serve. It speaks to the dedication, resilience, and professionalism of the staff of the UCC Hospital,” he noted.

Prof. Aheto, however, emphasised the need for continuous improvement, noting that the University would prioritise the provision of essential equipment to further enhance healthcare delivery.

“While we celebrate this success, we must also look ahead. Management remains committed to supporting the hospital with the necessary resources to sustain and improve the quality of care for the University community and residents of Cape Coast,” he assured.

Present at the short ceremony were the Registrar, Gideon Enoch Abbeyquaye, Esq.; Acting Director of Finance, Mr. George Amfo-Antiri and some management and staff members of UCC Health Services.
