The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has inaugurated a new gatehouse and shuttle terminal.

The gatehouse consists of offices, kitchennete and washroom.

Apart from the entrance for vehicles, it has two pedestrian access ways including another for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).

The gatehouse was funded jointly by the Central Administration and the Students’ Representative Council (SRC).

The opening of the new shuttle terminal, located at the Students' Representative Council Hall, will help students board shuttles and commercial vehicles to various locations on campus.

The shuttle terminal, which was solely funded by the SRC, will provide greater convenience to students who previously had to wait uncomfortably under the scorching sun to access shuttles to their destinations.

The Project Consultant was the Directorate of Physical Development and Estate Management (DPDEM).

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, inaugurating the gatehouse

Inaugurating the facilities, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, said the gatehouse would serve as a secure and efficient entry point to the campus, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students and staff of the university.

“The two projects are not mere physical infrastructure. They represent the University’s commitment to providing a safe, accessible and welcoming environment for all members of the University community,” he continued.

To him, the shuttle terminal will provide convenient and comfortable waiting areas for students commuting to and from the SRC hall.

He commended the SRC for contributing towards the construction of the new gatehouse and shuttle terminal.
