The Distance Education Students Association of Ghana, University of Cape Coast (DESAG-UCC) has held its 8th Annual National Delegates Congress at the Sunyani Polytechnic in the Brong Ahafo Region on the theme; Distance Education, a Tool for Economic Sustainability and National Development. The three-day congress brought together 360 delegates from 79 Study Centres of the College of Distance Education in the ten (10) regions of Ghana. As part of the three-day congress, the delegates were addressed by distinguished personalities and also socialised through sports and entertainment. One of the highlights of the congress was the election of national executives to take over leadership of the association from the out-going executives. At the end of elections, Frank Omono Asamoah a level 500 Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the Ashanti Region was declared President elect for the Association in the 2015/2016 academic year. Mr. Omono-Asamoah delivering his acceptance speech promised to work with his team to meet the expectation of the Distance Education Students. The other executives were Frank Obeng Gyapong (Central Region)-Welfare Officer; Maxwell Offei Nketia (Ashanti Region)-Sports Coordinator; Mohammed Hadisu Karim (Upper West Region) - Organising Secretary and Janet Asante (Ashanti Region)-Womens Commissioner. The rest were George Amankwaa (Brong Ahafo Region)-Public Relations Officer; Nana Abio (Central Region)-Secretary and Cornerlius Afesi (Volta Region)-Vice-President. Present at the congress were some senior members of the UCC College of Distance Education including Prof. Paul Dela Ahiatrogah, Head of Academic Unit; Prof. (Mrs.) Josephine Sam Tagoe, Head of Admissions; Mr. Gabriel Essilfie, Head of Student Support Unit and Mr. Ebenezer Aggrey, Assistant Registrar.
