The University Enterprises Limited (UCCEL) and GOIL Ghana Limited have renewed their relationship with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The new MoU which is an update of an earlier one the University signed with GOIL will give UCCEL full control of the operations of the GOIL Fuel Station on the University’s land.

Mobilising IGF

In his remarks at the signing ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, said the University was determined to create additional sources of mobilising internally generated funds to support its numerous activities. He noted that the partnership between UCC and GOIL had been mutually satisfactory to both parties.

Touching on the new MoU, Prof. Boampong commended GOIL for giving UCCEL full control of the fuel station. “We are happy that we now have a higher stake in the operations of the fuel station,” he added.

Benefits of New MoU

A former Board Chairman of the UCCEL Board, Prof. Edward Marfo Yiadom, said with the expanded MoU, the University was now in a position to benefit substantially from the fuel station.  “In the past GOIL was responsible for the day-to-day management of the fuel station, but with the current arrangement UCC will take full control whilst GOIL’s presence will be minimal,” he explained.

In addition, Prof. Yiadom indicated that the University would take control of the vehicle servicing area within the fuel station to provide services like changing of oil and vulcanizing.

Present at the signing ceremony were the Registrar, Mr. Jeff Teye Onyame; Board Chair of UCCEL, Mr. Kwaku Ennin; Director of Finance, Mrs. Elizabeth Obese; Assistant Registrar at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Ms. Elizabeth Yankah and Secretary of UCCEL Board, Mrs. Nana-Anna Abaka-Cann.

The team from GOIL were the Legal Affairs Manager, Mr. Kwabena Nimako; Public Relations Manager, Mr. Robert Kyere, and Zonal Manager for Central and Western, Ms. Baaba Martin Daniels.
