The University of Cape Coast, UCC, and the University of Connecticut, UCONN, USA, have resolved to step up academic cooperation that will be beneficial to each party.

In view of this, a horde of students from the University of Connecticut would pay a reciprocal visit to UCC in January 2023 to learn at first-hand the academic activities in the University.

The Assistant Vice-President for Global Affairs of UCONN, Dr. Nzozi Taffe, made the disclosure when she led a four-member delegation to pay a courtesy visit on the Pro Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Rosemond Boohene.

Dr. Taffe described the relationship between UCC and UCONN as very cordial and indicated that UCONN would work assiduously to ensure the expected outcome contained in the Memorandum of Understanding signed between UCONN and UCC a few years ago would come to fruition.

Receiving the delegation, Prof. Boohene said UCC was ready to share experiences with UCONN in the areas of academic cooperation.

She stressed that UCC was looking forward to receiving the visiting students and called on UCONN to collaborate with UCC on staff exchange programmes.

Prof. Boohene seized the chance to champion community engagement to the delegation which, according to her, was crucial to the forward match of every university.

“… We want to make sure that at the end of the day, the University is felt within the community,” she said, explaining to the delegation the positive impacts of community engagement to community members, especially the girl-child.

The UCONN delegation was made up of the Executive Director of the Centre for Undergraduate Education, Mr. David T. Ouimette; the Associate Director, Mrs. Gabriella Sontoro, and Africa Resident Representative, Faata Faleera Adam.

The Vice- Dean of the Office for International Relations, Dr. Bert Boadi Kusi was present at the meeting.
