The University of Cape Coast (UCC) Co-operative Credit Union (CCU) has opened a new branch at Elmina in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality of the Central Region.

 The new office, situated near the KEEA Municipal Assembly, is in line with the Union’s commitment to increase accessibility and bring financial services closer to the people within its operational areas.

The new branch, housed in a one-storey building, features a large seating area designed to accommodate more clients comfortably and efficiently.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Union's board members, management, staff, traditional rulers, customers, and representatives of the Ghana Co-operative Credit Unions Association (CUA) Limited.

 At a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Chairperson of the UCC Co-operative Credit Union, Mrs. Charity Abraham, described the new branch as a symbol of access, connection, and long-term commitment.

She said the Credit Union would provide unique products to its customers to help their businesses grow. 

Mrs.  Abraham indicated that they would provide loans to the private sector at a relatively cheaper rate to help expand their operations.

Mrs. Abraham added that the Credit Union had been consistent in expanding its operations and increasing its branch network to properly serve the Ghanaian market since its establishment. 

She also said the Elmina branch was strategically located to attract numerous customers and become a key driver of progress in the community.

The Manager of the Credit Union, Mr. Vincent Yamoah, expressed appreciation to all who made the branch opening a success and assured all of an exceptional banking experience.

He entreated the people to do business with the UCC-CCU, as it was the surest way to sustain its operations in the area and further advised the people that it was unsafe for them to keep huge sums of money in their rooms. 

Mr. Yamoah also noted that the Credit Union had tailored products for its customers.

The Head of Supervision at CUA, Mrs. Stella Tasa Mawunyo, urged the Union to comply stringently with regulatory standards and commended the Credit Union for its exploits. She advised that it should continue to be a beacon for making banking attractive to Ghanaians.

Some customers who were present commended the staff and team of the UCC-CCU and urged them to remain committed to their service.

Earlier, some staff members and customers went on parade through some principal streets of Elmina to announce the presence of UCC Credit Union in the community.

They seized the opportunity to educate the public on the benefits of joining the Credit Union.
