An alumnus of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Dr. Evans Oppong, has pledged to establish annual scholarship opportunities for deserving students of the University.

Dr. Oppong, a United Nations ambassador and founder of the City of Faith Ministry, made the announcement during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Johnson Nyarko Boampong, at his office.

Dr. Oppong held discussions with the Vice-Chancellor on a range of student-centered issues, including accommodation challenges, entrepreneurship development, and financial aid. He pledged to award scholarships to five outstanding students each year and revealed plans to collaborate with UCC’s Design Thinking Innovation Hub to organize an annual entrepreneurship seminar aimed at equipping students with practical business skills.

Expressing his ongoing commitment to the university, Dr. Oppong assured the Vice-Chancellor of his readiness to support UCC in various developmental activities and initiatives.

For his part, Professor Boampong, warmly welcomed Dr. Oppong back to his alma mater and commended his unwavering dedication to the progress of the University. “As an alumnus, you are an ambassador of the University. Continue to serve UCC, Ghana, and the world,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor also seized the opportunity to call on other alumni to emulate Dr. Oppong’s example and contribute to the growth and development of the University.
