The School of Business Dean's Award which is a yearly event was established to recognise and encourage high performing students of the School. The 2015 edition was held on Thursday, 22nd October, 2015 at Felt Auditorium 900, University of Cape Coast. In all, a total of 128 students from levels 100 - 300 in six programmes were awarded. Programmes included: BCom Management   I  BCom Procurement and Supply Chain Management   I  Bachelor of Management Studies  I  BCom Accounting  I  BCom Finance  I  Bachelor of Commerce for 2014/2015 academic year.

This year's event took a different dimension as awardees were treated to a dinner at the Centre for National Culture (CNC), Cape Coast, in addition to certificates and key text books. Another striking feature of the event was the award of special prizes  to deserving students. These included:

  • Overall best student as each level - sponsored by ICAG
  • Best male and female students in each programme at each level  -  sponsored by ICAG
  • Best students in Accounting courses in each level   -  sponsored by ICAG
  • Most Entrepreneurial and Innovative Student   -  sponsored by Mr. Phanuel Wunu (SRA, School of Business)
  • Students with the highest CGPA at level 300   -  sponsored by Mr. Gorkel Abro-Adibo (President, UCC School of Business Alumni Association ans Alumini Representative on University of Cape Coast Council)

The Motivational Speaker for the event, Mr. John Awuah, the Managing Director of Universal Merchant Bank (UMB), and an alumnus of the School urged the students to accelerate their academic performance so that they can earn good credentials that will equip them for the competitive job market.

The Dean of the School, Prof. Edward Marfo-Yiadom, in his speech thanked the key sponsors : National Investment Bank Ltd, GCB Bank Ltd, Institute of Chartered Accountant, Ghana (ICAG), EPP Books Services, Jeremiah 33:3 Enterprises and ATL FM for their generousity. The Faculty Officer of the School, Mrs. Georgina Asi Owusu and her team were also commended for the effort in obtaining sponsorship for the event. He also expressed sincere thanks to the entire Faculty and staff of the School for their committment to duty.
