The Directorate of Academic Affairs has organised a training programme for all Faculty/School/ Departmental Registration and Examination Officers (FREOs/SREOs/DREOs) of the University of Cape Coast.

The five-day training programme which started on Monday, October 16, 2023 is aimed at enhancing the implementation of the Academic Programme Policies and Regulations for Undergraduate Studies of the University.

Also, the training was to engage the officers to review the user requirements on the University of Coast Online Student Information System (UCCOSIS).

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, the Head of Students Records Section, Mr. Abdulai Mohammed Najimudeen, noted that it was important for FREOs/SREOs/DREOs to acquaint themselves with the Academic Programme Policies and Regulations for Undergraduate Studies of the University.

He noted that the officers could function efficiently and effectively if they were abreast of the content of the Academic Programme Policies and Regulations for Undergraduate Studies of the University.

“This document has the solution to most of the complaints we receive from faculty. Therefore, I urge all of you to get copies of this important document” he indicated.

Mr. Najimudeen took the officers through Academic Programme Policies and Regulations for Undergraduate Studies.

He entreated them to use established structures of the University to address registration of courses, examination results, incomplete results and any other academic issues covered in the academic document.

The Head of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Prof. Issahaku Adam, advised participants to safeguard the examination process, especially the questions to avoid leakage.

He indicated that despite the difficult tasks of FREOs/SREOs/DREOs, they were expected to ensure academic integrity of the University.

Prof. Adam noted that through engagement with FREOs/SREOs/DREOs, best practices could be recommended to Academic Board for implementation.

An Assistant Research Fellow of the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Mr. Dominic Amoateng Sabeng, explained the role of DAPQA in ensuring quality academic standards in the University.

He urged the officers to encourage students to participate in the appraisal of lecturers every semester.

A staff of the Students Records Section led participants to explore the new features on UCCOSIS.
