Four newly elected executives of the University Teachers’ Association of Ghana-University of Cape Coast Chapter (UTAG-UCC) have been sworn into office at a brief handover ceremony.

 Dr. Jerry Opoku Ansah was sworn in as the President, Dr. (Mrs) Joana Eva Doodoo, Vice-President, Prof. Isaac Buabeng, Secretary and Dr. Beatrice Asante Somuah, Treasurer.

 A Lecturer at the Faculty of Law-UCC, Mr. Constantine K. M. Kudzedzi, administered the oath of office to the executives to steer the affairs of the association for the next two years.

 In his inaugural address as the president of UTAG-UCC, Dr. Jerry Opoku Ansah, expressed gratitude to members of UTAG-UCC for the confidence and trust reposed in the executives, while pledging to maintain the high standards set by his predecessors.

He catalogued some of the challenges facing members of UTAG-UCC, including promotion, and called on management to expedite the promotion of its members.

 He lauded management of the University for putting up an office complex for faculty and promised to partner with management to improve the lot of members of UTAG-UCC.

 Dr. Ansah noted that his administration would put premium on research and collaborate with the Directorate of Research Innovation and Consultancy (DRIC) to enable members come up with cutting-edge research materials.

 He promised to sustain the UTAG Expert Forum and other programmes initiated by his predecessor. He also pledged to work with diligence with his colleagues for the general good of all.

The immediate past President of UTAG-UCC, Prof. Samuel Bert Boadi-Kusi, expressed appreciation to members of UTAG-UCC for the enormous support his administration enjoyed and urged the new executives to remain principled and objective in the execution of their duties.

He lauded management for the support and catalogued the successes chalked up by his administration.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, who chaired the event, congratulated the new executives on their election and inauguration.

He asked them to remain united, stressing that unity on campus was the driving force of the success story of UCC as regards the University’s global ranking.
