Delegation from Zenith Bank Calls on Vice-Chancellor

A delegation from Zenith Bank led by Mr. Philemon Adiase, has paid a courtesy to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong to congratulate him on his appointment.

A delegation from Zenith Bank led by Mr. Philemon Adiase, has paid a courtesy to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong to congratulate him on his appointment.

Purpose

The spokesperson for the delegation, Mr. Francis Kwabena Arthur, noted that the visit was to introduce themselves to the Vice-Chancellor and his Management team and also deepen the collaboration between the University and his organisation. “We were sent by the Management of Zenith Bank headed by the Managing Director so we are here to say a very big welcome to the Vice-chancellor,” he explained.

Mr. Arthur who is also the Relationship Manager of the Cape Coast Branch of Zenith Bank indicated that there was a cordial relationship between UCC and Zenith Bank and therefore, they would continue to do their part to meet the financial and corporate goals of the University. He expressed the Bank’s readiness to assist the Vice-Chancellor to achieve his vision for the University. “As a branch and the Bank, we want to assure you of our support to roll out your agenda for UCC. We want to assist to make your administration a wonderful one,” he noted. 

Response

Welcoming the delegation, the Vice-Chancellor informed the delegation that his vision was to transform UCC as the hub of Entrepreneurial Education so that products of the University could create their own businesses and not only rely on the formal sector for employment. “In doing this, what we envisage is that the students will be trained in such a way that they have all the competencies to become entrepreneurs” he stressed.

Prof Boampong urged that the Bank to support the University’s entrepreneurial drive by contributing to the Entrepreneurship Development Fund which would provide assistance to students to set up their own businesses and provide employment to others. “I need the support of Zenith Bank to substantially contribute to this fund so that we can together create opportunities for our students,” he entreated
    
Present at the meeting were the Registrar, Mr. Jeff Teye Emmanuel Onyame; Ag. Director of Public Affairs, Major Kofi Baah-Bentum (rtd).  Other members of Zenith Bank delegation were Mr. Afoakwa Nkrumah-Ababio and Mrs. Alberta Burndam.
